The Creating Line Design Fine Motor Skill Activity Workbooks are the longest running, and most popular series of products for home and classroom educators from G.E.C. Publishing. The series is applicable for Kindergarten through Adult Education and builds a solid foundation in fine motor skill use.
Unless a student has already developed a solid foundation of motor skills, it is recommended to start with Creating Line Designs, Book 1, and follow the series through Creating Line Designs, Book 4, as motor skills increase.
If a student already has a foundation of following instructions, working with a pencil & ruler, and coloring, starting with Creating Line Designs, Book 3 may be more appropriate. (Creating Line Designs, Book 3 is usually recommended for 3rd to 5th grade and above.)
All books are written to aid classroom and home educators in activities to reinforce perceptual-motor skills. The best time to introduce the Creating Line Design Series is when a student is beginning to learn how to properly use a straignt edge. When instructing, it is important to ensure proper use of a ruler or straight edge is addressed. (Tips included in each book.)
Workbooks within the Fine Motor Skills Series are designed to emphasize ‘Sequential Thinking’ and after initial instruction, can be easily completed by students with little supervision other than comparing completed worksheets to the provided answer key.
